 Your very own national budget
Go to the National Budget Simulation and eliminate the tax cuts and military budget, and double the spending on all that matters. I found it really therapeutic. Nathan Newman and Anders Schneiderman made this useful Budget simulator - unfortunately I couldn't find an option to increase corporate taxes - though you can close some loopholes!

 Seeing like a film studio
Sometimes while going through the corporate websites we have come across some strange but facinating insights into the corporate worldview. Risks In Global Filmmaking is a map by Aon and Albert G. Ruben is a beautiful example of how they see the world. The description of Argentina is exemplary - summed up as "Medium" risk and described as a "fragile economy produces some political problems, including strikes..."

 They don't pay tax!
"More than 60% of U.S. corporations didn't pay any federal taxes for 1996 through 2000, years when the economy boomed and corporate profits soared, Tuesday's Wall Street Journal reported, citing the investigative arm of Congress." From a CNN article titled: Many Firms Avoided Taxes in Boom . And this was before Bush's tax breaks for the rich.

 this is the public domain
What if you wanted to buy a piece of land and give it away to everyone in the world - forever? It turns out you can't, they won't let you - it goes against the fundamental basis of capitalist society - private property. Amy Balkin is making art trying to find a way to do it anyway. this is the public domain is a project with a simple premise that leads its appreciators into the complex world of legal structures put in place to help justify and mantain a system of unfair use in the physical world.

 The Fix is In
"We hear from Kurt Eichenwald, whose book The Informant is about the price fixing conspiracy at the food company ADM, Archer Daniels Midland, and the executive who cooperated with the FBI in recording over 250 hours of secret video and audio tapes, probably the most remarkable videotapes ever made of an American company in the middle of a criminal act." The Fix is In is one of the best episodes of the excellent radio series This American Life.

 International Socialist Organization
" The International Socialist Organization stands in the revolutionary tradition of Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky. We have branches across the country that organize activists in workplaces and communities and on campuses in order to mobilize opposition to all forms of oppression and exploitation. The ISO believes that capitalism produces poverty, racism, famine, environmental catastrophe and war. By getting involved in struggles big and small, the ISO aims to build with others a society where we all have control over our lives. We believe another world is possible. " If that sounds good to you - then go along to the meetings and get involved!

Why is this system so racist, sexist and homophobic? Why does the US go to war? How did Russia go from a worker's state to state capitalism? Why don't the Democratic Party leaders stand up and fight? How can we change the world? The International Socialist Review is indespensible in giving analysis around such questions.

 Socialist Worker
Twice a week I stand outside on a street corner and try to engage strangers in conversations about politics. This would be much harder without a copy of Socialist Worker in my hand. Read it cover to cover every week - amaze your friends with your knowledge of class struggle and the possibilities for resistance to the profit system that creates wars, wrecks lives and destroys the planet we live on. Another world is possible!

 Counterpunch
There is no need to resort to conspiracy theories when you have Counterpunch. Cockburn and St. Clair select great articles from the anti-imperialist ranks of the left. They play a crucial role in reminding those who would vote for the 'lesser evil' just how much evil they are accepting in that choice.
